Valencia CF to play FC Krasnodar in Europa League Round of 16

FC Krasnodar were the side picked as Valencia CF's opponents for the Round of 16 of the UEFA Europa League, in the draw that took place on Friday in Nyon, Switzerland.
It was former Valencia CF goalkeeper Andrés Palop who pulled the names out of the pot. Dates have already been set for the two legs, with the first being held on March 7th at Mestalla and the return fixture on March 14th in Krasnodar.
Founded on February 22nd, 2008, FC Krasnodar meet Valencia CF for the first time. They have competed in European competition since the 2014/15 campaign, and are currently on a break from domestic action in Russia since December 8th.
In the UEFA Europa League, they eliminated Bayer Leverkusen in the Round of 32 thanks to a goalless draw at home and a 1-1 draw away in Germany. Previously, FC Krasnodar had formed part of Group J in the competition, along with Sevilla FC, Standard Liege and Akhisar Belediyespor, placing second with 12 points.
