The VCF Academy held paid tribute to the late Abelardo last Friday, remembering the goalkeeper who won a LaLiga title and Copa del Rey with the club.
Abelardo's son, José Ángel González, and grandchildren Héctor, Adriana, Sandra and Rubén, participated in the homage, which took place at the CF Cracks facilities during the fourth edition of the Clinic Escoles VCF training camp.
The VCF Academy and the goalkeepers of the VCF Alevín A and VCF Alevín Fundación teams presented them with a shirt bearing the name of the famous former player.
“It was very special, because he would be really enjoying seeing the two clubs in his life -Valencia CF and the CF Cracks Football School- together. He would be very happy about this homage that Valencia CF have paid to him," said González.
Abelardo was a founding partner of the CF Cracks Football School and spent several years participating in the coaching of young players.
Javier Martí, the current goalkeeping coach at the VCF Academy and someone who shared many years with Abelardo at CF Cracks, also took part in the tribute.
