Mestalla brimming with emotions running high
Relive the emotional events that took place in the run-up to Valencia CF-Real Betis to pay tribute to the victims and those affected by the tragic flash floods
The pick of the Valencia CF goals against Villarreal CF was that scored by Daniel Wass, as the Dane made it 1-2 in stoppage time. The midfielder was pleased with both his strike and the result for his side, which gives them a big advantage heading into next Thursday's decisive second leg at Mestalla.
"It's a great result for us. This team always want to win, we're very strong and we play as a team. It was a good game for us and 1-3 is a very positive result for the return leg," he told VCF Media after the game.
"For my goal, Gayà played a great cross over and I latched onto the ball without even thinking. It was a good goal."
"The fans are very important for us, both at home and when we play away. You can always hear our fans singing, which helps us," he added.
The goal was Wass' first in the Europa League since March 9th, 2017, when he was on target against FC Krasnodar playing for Celta Vigo, and his first for Valencia CF -whom he joined last summer.
