Born in the United States, raised in Italy and the UK, and of Ghanaian descent, the young footballer has found his place in the world at Mestalla. He analyses the team’s growth on this interview with VCF MEDIA

Yunus Musah dazzled in the match against Getafe CF with an outstanding contribution for Valencia CF. At just 17 years old, he became the youngest player to score a goal for Valencia CF in LaLiga so far in the 21st century, making his mark in the Matchday 8 encounter.

Musah scored in style to boot: He picked up the ball and rushed some 70 metres towards the opposition penalty area, before driving a shot at pace into the net. The right footed strike was the finishing touch to a wonderful display of the player's capabilities. Talking to VCF MEDIA, he said of his performance: “I think it’s incredible at such young age to score for a club with so much history in LaLiga, on a night where I think as a team we needed that point. I’m glad that I scored a goal to help with that."

The prodigious talent added that: “From the beginning everyone at Valencia CF has welcomed me very well. They had a good plan for me, helped me develop so much and I have learned so much during my time here -and I’m sure I’m going to learn so much more. I think this is a club with such a rich history. So many players have come up from the VCF Academy and, as you can see now, there’s a place for them in the first team. It gives me motivation to keep going”.

The commitment to the VCF Academy is one of the cornerstones of the club's project, and is an aspect that has been further strengthened since the arrival of Peter Lim as majority shareholder. Today, that model of success -exported to four continents- is reflected in the first team.

“There are so many good players in the VCF Academy and so many more at VCF Mestalla as well. There’s so much talent that I think it’s worth giving them a chance. As you can see, there are so many good players in the first team, and its just a queston of playing and improving."

Yunus Musah’s history with Valencia CF has only just begun. His objective is to keep growing and developing at the club.

“It’s such a great achivement to be called up by the first team at such a young age, I’m proud about that, and obviously my dream is to play on an international stage, so it’s a nice feeling to be recognised. It’s going to be a good experience for me."
