Miguel Ángel Corona appeared before the media this Saturday at the presentation of Carlos Corberán as the new Valencia CF coach.
“Welcome. We are very happy with your arrival. If I had to define you, it would be that you give off contagious energy as well as hunger and enthusiasm. We are very happy with that conviction with which you arrive, after having spoken with you about the squad. You are here out of necessity, but that necessity also makes us have a much greater shared enthusiasm and joy. I wish you good luck and welcome you home."
Baraja
“His renewal was not a mistake. He more than earned it on the pitch, and we had always been very consistent in the way we acted when we talked about building with stability for the long term. Then things turned out differently; that is undeniable and sometimes it happens in football or in life. That does not mean that there is regret. His renewal was earned on the field of play.”
Financial effort
“The club have been making efforts since the market opened, keeping the whole team, even with renewals such as that of our striker. It is undeniable that the results were very poor and we considered making a change. The confidence was complete, but the results speak for themselves. The commitment to Carlos is one that we are convinced will give us success because of the effort made.”
The transfer market
“The commitment of a club is always to be prepared in each transfer window to improve the squad. Obviously, in the situation we are in, we are going to try with all our means.”
The proposal to sign Corberán
“Just like the hiring of Rubén Baraja and his two renewals, the hiring of Carlos was proposed by the Sports Management and transferred to the Board of Directors, who support and authorise it.”
Carlos Corberán's contract
“It has the usual termination clauses in employment contracts.”
The situation at the club
“I dedicate myself, body and soul, to my work. I do it in the best possible way and in the most honest way. I do not want to go into an extensive reflection on what has happened from when I arrived to today, in the sense that in that first year the club finished in ninth position and we went through Covid-19. I am not going to explain things again regarding the financial and strategic plan at the club. I try to work with the resources we have, in the best possible way. The president knows that, since I have been here, I have been at her disposal. The day that she or the Board consider that it is better to have someone else in my position, I will accept that, but I dedicate myself body and soul every day to my job. I don't give up and I'm not going to give up."
Transfer market options
"I can't give any names. We have a lot of work underway, but it's still early. We'll see how we can improve the squad."
