Baraja: "We want to dedicate the victory to the victims and those affected by the 'DANA'"
The coach previews the game against Real Betis
Valencia CF caretaker coach Voro González gave a press conference following the 2-2 draw with Granada, and expressed his thoughts on the performance at the Nuevo Los Carmenes
The game
“The team had desire and intensity, were committed and worked hard in defence. We knew that we couldn't make mistakes, because Granada are a side who are very organised in attack. In terms of our attitude and committment, the team took full marks. The important thing was that we were able to react after the goal, went ahead and had a clear chance through Gameiro at 1-2. The team felt the need to win and the responsibility of getting the three points. Then Granada equalised off a mistake that we were punished for. The team seem committed."
Parejo
"I'm not keen on evaluating each player when we are trying to be a team. Parejo is a very important player for us because of how he plays and what he offers. He has shown that and he is part of our plans, like everybody else."
A first step
"After Granada scored, the team created the equaliser quickly. I think that the first thing is to compete well, and today they did that. They competed against Athletic, but we were punished hard for our mistakes. It's a shame that we didn't take the three points today, because we did a lot to deserve to win. Granada had their chances, but if we had finished off ours then we would have won."
A more solid team
"The team tried to be solid, not make mistakes and look for more long balls. The goals that we conceded were from a set piece and from a mistake leaving space in the wall, and we paid dearly for that. The team have conceded a lot of goals, but I have worked since last Monday to ensure that the team improve with every day and every game."
Stepping in as coach
"Every previous time, there was a common denominator: A change of coach due to bad results. You always take over a team with low morale. Every situation is difficult and there are a lot of problems due to bad results. That makes the players lose confidence. The responsibility is the same every time; I think about solutions 24 hours a day, along with my staff and the players."
50 goals conceded
"The objective since the first day I arrived has been to have the maximum commitment in the squad, and that the team change the dynamic of our results. I am happy with the commitment from the team. I have seen a certain improvement and growth, and we just need to not make the mistakes which have penalised us so much."
