MATCH REPORT | VALENCIA CF KICKS OFF THE PRESEASON AGAINST CD CASTELLÓN (0-0)
Valencia CF play CD Castellón at the Estadi Antonio Puchades
Valencia CF drew 0-0 with CD Castellón in their first preseason friendly of the summer, held at the Ciudad Deportiva. The Estadi Antonio Puchades welcomed fans to the stands to take in the contest, which will serve as preparation for 2024/25.
In the first half, a move from the left wing saw Sergi Canós put a cross towards the far post with Otorbi headed over, in the best chance of the period.
After the hydration break, Alberto Marí had a one-on-one with the CD Castellón goalkeeper, who blocked both his shot and a later effort by Hugo Duro.
In the second half, coach Rubén Baraja brought in a completely different XI from the first -with the exception of goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski, who remained between the sticks.
Rafa Mir, the other unofficial debutant of the evening, made his first appearance since returning to the club on loan this summer. He had his name chanted by the supporters on the hour mark after a good attacking move.
Although there were no goals, the squad got kilometres in their legs ahead of a packed summer of football, with the start of the 2024/25 season just around the corner.
