The feeling after the match

The feeling of defeat is like one of mourning. The atmosphere was extraordinary and the team at times played the football that we have been working on. I'm happy with the commitment and dedication of the team, but if you don't win, we are aware that you have to improve. We have only been working together for a few days, and we have greatly reinforced the team's commitment to what we want to build together. We were impressed by the support of the fans who make Mestalla a very difficult ground for opponents

Improvement

My focus is on the process that we have started to work on with the players. As a coach, for me the results have to be a consequence of our performance on the pitch. There have been moments from the team that I liked, and others that we have to continue working on. In my mind there is only that: Improving my team.

Analysis of the match

The team had good moments, I think we showed a personality and character that it was important for us to show. Real Madrid had just won a world title and we know the power of that team, and in the match there were moments in which we were unable to impose the game that I am convinced that -if we work hard- we will gradually achieve by imposing ourselves.

Commitment

I have seen a committed squad, playing with personality and daring, and it is true that there have been situations that we have not handled with the maturity that we have to, situations in which we have to interpret the advantage of playing close, playing far apart, of seeing if a teammate has the advantage.

But I have seen a team committed to the idea and committed to growing as a group. I am left with that positive, because it will allow us to grow and at the same time we grow in commitment to the game and also grow in knowing how to handle the situation, to avoid situations that put us in difficulty and help us compete and manage the game better.

Mistakes for the goals

If I am fair in the analysis of the play, I do not think that the error should be singled out at Hugo Guillamón's fault. It is a move that we should have handled better and we will use it to continue growing. Hugo had no advantage in receiving the ball, because he was being marked. That's why I say that we have to grow to find the best solution to the game situation.

Mestalla

I have seen a dedicated fan base, a fan base that can only make us proud to wear this shirt. Mestalla has once again shown that if they support us in this way it is difficult to come here and win. We are going to use the pain that they have and that we share to go to work at the Ciudad Deportiva to continue growing, and channel it to help us achieve what we have not achieved today.

Analysis of the two halves

In general I have seen a better first half than the second half. There are moments of play that we have to continue correcting, as there were in the first half. In the second half it was harder for us to attack. Real Madrid were more focused, they accumulated a lot of quality players in areas that make you defend further back than you want to defend, and prevent you from attacking because when you recover the ball you get tired. We weren't able to extend attacks and reach the opponent's half. We were not able to do so at the beginning or at the end of the second half. After the sending off we had some moments in attack, and then we had the individual action from Luis Rioja. It has been a shame not to be able to better finish off a game where there have been very good things and things to improve.

Message to the fans

I would say to the fans that we share the feeling of pain they have, that the defeat was not the result we wanted, and that we are going to use that feeling of pain after the defeat to improve every day, to continue growing. The only way to win games is to continue maturing at a competitive level and continue growing at a playing level. We have only been together for 5 days and the team are never going to give up. Our responsibility is to channel the pain so as not to stray from the line we want to achieve and what we want to convey on the pitch.

I have felt very supported by the fans; not just me, but the whole team. They have given the team tremendous energy and have shown that they are essential for us.
