Gil: "The result was too heavy to reflect our second half showing"
Bryan Gil spoke to VCF Media following the game against FC Barcelona, reflecting on the Matchday 25 defeat.
A tough defeat
"It's a tough day. In the first half we conceded three goals, and that's difficult to overcome, but in the second half we went for it with everything, and we wanted to win the game. They scored too soon after our goal. When you concede three goals in the first half it's difficult to come back from."
Improvement made after the break
“I think that from the beginning we had the mentality of going for the win, but when you concede three goals it seems that you haven't given it your all. I don't believe that; I think the result was too heavy to reflect our second half showing, but we will continue working”.
Analysing the defeat
“You get out of this situation by being self-critical. We lost the match, but we came out in the second half with desire, motivation and intensity. That is what we are going to do until the end of the season.”
The next match
“We have to pick ourselves up. Not in the game against Mallorca, but rather tomorrow. We have to work all week to prepare for that match."
Support at Mestalla
“In the second half, when you are losing 0-3, it is normal for the fan support to drop off. You could feel the strength that this ground gives. The fans were supporting us until the 90th minute and beyond, and from here I want to tell them that we will continue working to make them happy."
Another assist
“The assist counts, but we lost the game. It's more important to win."
